Submitting Grower/Extension Surveys and Project Requests

Posted on June 28, 2019March 3, 2022 — Cristi Palmer, Kathryn Homa

Are you having difficulty managing whiteflies, leaf spots, or spurge? Or are other diseases, pests and weeds giving you nightmares? If so, there are multiple ways to tell us your needs for new tools to manage these issues. The article below covers Why, Who, Where, What, and When.

Why would I want to provide IR-4 this information? By submitting a grower/extension survey or project request, IR-4 can prioritize all the potential projects and start research into new options for managing difficult-to-control diseases, insects and weeds.

Who can submit need to IR-4? Any individual can submit project requests except for someone employed by a registrant. Any one within the green industry can submit a grower/extension survey including registrants and other allied industry representatives.

Where do I submit a need to IR-4? If your crop of interest is edible such as basil or strawberries, then you should submit either a residue and product performance request or an integrated solutions request. See this article for more specifics.

For non-edible crops, you have multiple options. First, if you have an issue but don’t know the specific product or active ingredient for registration research, fill out the Grower/Extension Survey. The survey results you provide serve as the backbone for discussing prioritizing potential research projects. Second, if you know the product you want screened for the target problem, please fill out the Project Request Form. This form can also be used for biopesticide specific needs that cannot easily be tested in standard screening protocols.

What forms do I use? There are two forms the Grower/Extension Survey and the Project Request Form.
