The IR-4 Project Inducts Bernard Zandstra into Hall of Fame

Posted on May 3, 2023May 4, 2023 — Hannah Ross

The IR-4 Headquarters team is pleased to announce the induction of Bernard H. Zandstra, Ph.D. into the IR-4 Hall of Fame. Dr. Zandstra was nominated by Dr. John Wise and Nicole Soldan and was approved by the Project Management Committee for this award in recognition of his 40+ years of outstanding service to IR-4 as a Field Research Director in the North Central Region. The Hall of Fame is the highest recognition awarded by The IR-4 Project.

Throughout his career with IR-4, Dr. Zandstra contributed in countless ways to the mission of the organization, generating hundreds of registrations supporting specialty crop growers in and beyond his region. Dr. Zandstra served commendably as a member of the IR-4 Training Committee, helping to set training standards for new and experienced technical personnel. Above and beyond his workday duties, Dr. Zandstra fostered close and lasting relationships with growers and commodity groups to better understand their needs, and continues to be a treasured mentor to many in the IR-4 and Michigan State University communities.

Thank you, Bernie, for your leadership. We are honored that you chose to share your talents with IR-4 for so many years.
