Jerry Baron Receives ’25 CALS Values Award for Excellence in Integrity

CALS Values Award recipients with Dean Garey Fox

IR-4 Executive Director Jerry Baron has been named an inaugural recipient of the NC State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Values Award for Excellence in Integrity.

The CALS Values Awards honor individuals who demonstrate one or more of the core CALS values—excellence, inclusion, integrity, sustainability, community, freedom and collaboration—in their daily work.

CALS Dean Garey Fox commended Baron for his leadership of the IR-4 Project, emphasizing its lasting impact on specialty crop agriculture. Dean Fox also celebrated Baron’s “commitment to scientific integrity, collaboration, and innovation,” which has “strengthened the industry and supported growers worldwide.”

The additional five CALS Values Award recipients can be found here.

The IR-4 Headquarters team is proud to be part of the Wolfpack, and lucky to have a leader with such high standards of integrity. Congratulations, Jerry!

Deborah Carpenter Receives ’24 Pride of the Wolfpack Award

In addition to Baron’s 2025 award, IR-4 is pleased to share that Deborah Carpenter, National Lab Director and Associate Director for Regulatory Sciences, was honored in 2024 with a Pride of the Wolfpack Award.

Pride of the Wolfpack recognizes individuals who demonstrate university values, which include excellence, integrity and collaboration. The IR-4 Headquarters team presented this award to Debbie at our annual Employee Appreciation Day. Congratulations, Debbie!
